Description: The Echo and Vascular Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for providing professional quality work as a teaching faculty member, with a specific focus on Adult Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound within the Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) Program at the Claude W. Smith MD School of Cardiovascular Technology (MUSC Health). This role involves the coordination and instruction of Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound - focused courses within the prescribed curriculum, ensuring students receive comprehensive programmatic and technical instruction, exposure, and experience in the field of Cardiac and Vascular Sonography. Job Summary: Assists the Claude W. Smith MD School of CVT Program Director and faculty with the development, coordination, and instruction of Echo and Vascular-related didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses. This includes preparing and delivering engaging lectures, simulation education, and pre-practicum activities that align with current best practices and accreditation guidelines in Adult Echo and Vascular Sonography. The Coordinator will be responsible for compiling, administering, and grading examinations, competencies, evaluations, and projects to assess student learning in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. This role also involves: Coordinating schedules and instruction in both the classroom and clinical environments as assigned. Ensuring all students receive adequate programmatic and technical instruction, exposure, and experience in Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Working closely with faculty and clinical sites to evaluate student clinical and didactic performance, specifically within Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Maintaining inventory of appropriate pre-practicum/simulation supplies and equipment at clinical and/or laboratory training sites relevant to Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Assisting the CVT faculty with maintaining simulation education & Clinical records, including outcome measures related to student learning in Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound simulation experiences and performance in clinical education. Coordinating activities in the pre-clinical, clinical, laboratory, and simulation education settings as they relate to Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound, as determined by the needs of the School’s Program Director. Supervising and coordinating schedules of Noninvasive CVT students and clinical associates specifically for Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound rotations or experiences; providing guidance and direction to assigned clinical instructors and clinical associates on proper evaluative and instructional techniques in Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Evaluating clinical experiences at affiliated clinical sites, in terms of quality, quantity, and appropriateness of Noninvasive-focused student learning experiences, using various techniques, including student evaluations. Serving as a liaison with clinical sites used for extramural clinical or laboratory educational experiences in Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Visiting clinical sites on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure uniform and consistent Echo and Vascular Sonography practice within accreditation guidelines. Developing and maintaining records that demonstrate outcome measures such as Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound clinical experiences, student records, and employer data related to Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound competencies. Providing students with access to hospital/clinical affiliate orientation documents and any other relevant documents required by the hospital/clinical affiliates for Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound rotations. Monitoring student’s compliance in completing, submitting, and/or uploading any required health reports, drug screens, criminal background checks, and hospital/clinical affiliate’s requirements, as determined by the School’s Program Director for Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound rotations. Providing academic assistance and mentorship to students as needed, particularly in the area of Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Actively participating in assigned program curriculum planning and development, with a focus on integrating the latest advancements and best practices in Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound within accreditation guidelines. Participating in admission selection efforts for qualified applicants interested in the Noninvasive CVT program with an emphasis on Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Participating in departmental, committee, and other program meetings; attending local, state, and regional meetings to support the development of assigned programs, particularly in the field of Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Communicating regularly with Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound Lab Leadership (managers, directors, and clinical preceptors) regarding student performance and curriculum issues related to Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound. Teaching in the pre-practicum, clinical, simulation education, and/or didactic setting, as determined by the School’s Program Director. Assisting with the set-up and take down of the pre-practicum/simulation supplies and/or equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
