About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Cybersecurity Technical Manager to lead and grow our Federal, Department of Defense (DoD), and international cybersecurity design practice. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking professional who excels in technical leadership, cybersecurity architecture, project execution, and business development within a multidisciplinary design environment. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers to deliver integrated, secure facility solutions. This position requires strong problem‑solving abilities, deep familiarity with Federal cybersecurity frameworks, experience with facility-related control systems, and the ability to lead and mentor technical teams.

Requirements

  • 15 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or related field required
  • Strong working knowledge in the following areas: Federal Agencies & Mission Environments
  • Experience supporting projects or cybersecurity compliance efforts with: Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), AFCESA, NAVFAC, DISA, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Energy (DOE)
  • Strong understanding and practical application of: Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), including UFC 1‑200‑01 and UFC 04‑010‑06, NIST Standards: NIST SP 800‑37 Rev. 2, NIST SP 800‑53 Rev. 5, NIST SP 800‑82 Rev. 3, NIST SP 800‑171, DoD Issuances including DODI 8500.01, 8530.01, 8510.01, 8140.01, CNSSI 1253, ISC Appendix B Countermeasures
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity services specific to Federal facilities: Cybersecurity engineering and design for facility-related control systems (FRCS), Cybersecurity commissioning and validation for FRCS environments, RMF/ATO planning, documentation, and advisory support, Facility control system risk and vulnerability assessments, Penetration testing support, System Security Plan development, Incident Recovery Planning

Responsibilities

  • Provide staff oversight, coaching, and performance management.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Manage resource planning, utilization forecasting, and workload distribution.
  • Identify and pursue new DoD and Federal cybersecurity project opportunities.
  • Lead or support development of technical and cost proposals.
  • Serve as a client-facing representative to assess needs, discuss solutions, and ensure exceptional service.
  • Oversee advanced analysis, design, evaluation, and inspection efforts for cybersecurity of facility-related control systems (FRCS).
  • Develop and review project plans, technical specifications, and all cybersecurity-related documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal design disciplines to integrate cybersecurity into architectural, technological, and MEP system designs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal teams, executive leadership, and clients.
  • Conduct field investigations, perform data collection, and support research to inform design decisions.
  • Interpret technical data and prepare detailed analyses and reports.
  • Maintain required DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
  • Apply current DoD, Federal, and industry cybersecurity standards including UFC, UFGS, NIST, and related criteria.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of cybersecurity design products.
  • Develop innovative solutions to resolve design conflicts and improve technical workflows.
  • Work directly with clients to define requirements, validate concepts, and resolve design challenges.
  • Generate client communications, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
