About The Position

The Data Analyst analyzes, interprets, and translates complex data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making across University Federal Credit Union (UFCU). This role partners with stakeholders across multiple business units to understand business needs, develop analytical solutions, and deliver clear, accurate, and timely reporting and analysis. The Data Analyst applies strong analytical, technical, and communication skills to improve operational efficiency, member experience, risk management, and strategic outcomes. The Data Analyst – Lending supports the development, management, and performance optimization of UFCU’s Lending functions. This role is responsible for analyzing performance, identifying growth opportunities, evaluating member behavior, and delivering insights that inform enterprise lending strategy and operational improvements. The Data Analyst partners closely with the Lending management team, Technology, Finance, Risk, MarCom, and Retail Experience teams to enhance performance, improve member outcomes, and support strategic initiatives. Requirements

  • Knowledge of data analysis methodologies, reporting practices, and data visualization principles
  • Knowledge of relational databases, data structures, and data management concepts
  • Knowledge of data governance, data privacy, and information security principles
  • Knowledge of banking, payments, and digital financial services
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, or similar; business intelligence platforms)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within deadlines
  • Ability to analyze complex information and synthesize insights into actionable recommendations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders and influence without authority
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities
  • Ability to understand operational processes and risk considerations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Economics, or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • 2–3 years of business analysis or financial services experience
  • Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources
  • Experience with BI tools
  • Experience presenting insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Must be bondable

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze lending performance metrics including member experience, pain points, and risk impacts, generating insights to improve sales and service performance
  • Analyzes structured and unstructured data from multiple sources to deliver timely, actionable insights that support iterative decision-making and business outcomes
  • Develops and refines insights and recommendations in partnership with stakeholders to continuously improve business performance, operational effectiveness, and member experience
  • Translates complex analytical findings into clear, concise narratives for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Designs, develops, and iteratively enhances reports, dashboards, and scorecards based on evolving business needs and stakeholder feedback
  • Ensures accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data presented in reports and analytics deliverables
  • Continuously evaluates and improves reporting solutions through feedback, testing, and learning to enhance usability, relevance, and efficiency
  • Partners with stakeholders across centralized and decentralized business units to understand priorities, define analytical needs, and deliver incremental value
  • Provides consultative analytical support to leaders and cross-functional teams to inform tactical and strategic decisions in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Serves as a trusted data partner by proactively identifying opportunities to leverage data more effectively
  • Validates, cleans, and reconciles data to ensure accuracy and reliability of analysis
  • Documents data definitions, assumptions, methodologies, and business rules to promote transparency, shared understanding, and reuse across teams
  • Adheres to UFCU data governance, privacy, security, and compliance standards
  • Utilizes analytical tools, databases, and business intelligence platforms to extract, analyze, and visualize data
  • Supports continuous improvement by identifying and prioritizing data-driven opportunities that streamline processes, improve outcomes, and increase value delivery
  • Stays current on analytics best practices, tools, and techniques relevant to the role
  • Participates in collaborative planning, prioritization, and review activities as appropriate to assigned teams or initiatives
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes
  • Completes required regulatory training as assigned
  • Maintains strict adherence to and compliance with all laws, rules, regulations, and internal controls specific to the role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations
