About The Position

The Data Analyst MRT s responsible for coordinating all Caminar, Avatar and Electronic Health Record (EHR) related tasks, including collection and entry of members served data (e.g. demographics, diagnosis, service codes, billing codes), running reports, ensuring accuracy of data and reporting back to the program and the payer. The position requires using outcomes data to promote program improvement with a focus on positive outcomes for the members served. The Data Analyst/MRT is responsible for the maintenance, storage and processing of all medical records and Electronic Health Record (EHR) data. This involves performing a variety of clerical and technical duties associated with the management and oversight of a program’s medical records including, but not limited to: assembling, analysis, release of information, data processing, collection, reconciliation, and preparation of reports in a manner consistent with the medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of a mental health care system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or a G.E.D.
  • One (1) year of database experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and payer representatives
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, set work priorities and function as a self-starter
  • One (1) year of EHR or healthcare information system experience in a psychiatric inpatient program, mental health outpatient program or acute hospital setting
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations, survey processes, accreditation standards, and psychiatric requirements
  • Knowledge and application of appropriate coding systems; ICD-10 CM, DSM IV
  • Knowledge of documentation and legal issues pertaining to HIPAA, PHI and other health information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Sensitivity to multi-cultural populations and issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and County representatives
  • Ability to read, write and speak English and willingness to work with adults with mental illness
  • The ability to work with minimum of supervision, set work priorities and function as a self-starter
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification.

Nice To Haves

  • Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • Bachelor’s degree; education may be substituted with relevant work experience if the candidate has an A.A. degree
  • Experience in the management of behavioral health clinical records , preferably Avatar and/or Caminar
  • Courses in typing, word processing and general office procedures
  • Bilingual

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language
  • Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures
  • Oversees accurate and timely collection of data
  • Ensures that members served information, enrollment, disenrollment, eligibility information, outcome data, billing and diagnosis reconciliation and other pertinent information is input within specified time limits
  • Interfaces with payer staff and confirms that all data procedures are completed according to payer specifications and directions
  • Monitors and assures compliance with the payer’s deliverable requirements
  • Creates and runs reports to confirm accuracy of data and makes corrections in a timely manner, according to payer instructions
  • Participates in all payer trainings and meetings to stay up-to-date on all changes and revisions to system
  • Uses the outcomes data to promote program improvement and focus on positive outcomes for the members served
  • Performs computer interface (uploads) of data to Corporate office
  • Oversees the Relias system by entering, tracking and reporting employee compliance to Administrator
  • Attends payer training meetings
  • Completes quarterly and annual training audits and submits annual training plan to the payer and Administrator to assure at least 95% compliance to avoid sanctions
  • Performs administrative duties including but not limited to: taking of meeting minutes, timely filing of licensing applications and updates
  • Assists in the development of and compliance with the policies and procedures that ensure that medical records are complete and processed according to governmental regulations and standard professional and medical record keeping practices
  • Monitors and tracks compliance with legal documents and correspondence with conservators/guardians
  • Prepares and processes the clinical records of members served who are admitted/discharged to the program
  • Audits clinical records for completeness and adherence to standards
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management
