About The Position

The Data Analytics and Assessment Coordinator supports the continuous quality improvement (CQI), accreditation, curriculum evaluation, and institutional effectiveness efforts of the Duquesne University Nasuti College of Osteopathic Medicine (DUQ-NCOM). This role is responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting data that inform academic decision-making, support accreditation requirements (e.g., COCA), and enhance student learning outcomes. The coordinator works collaboratively with academic leadership, faculty, IT, and assessment teams to ensure high-quality, accurate, and meaningful data insights. This position will include administrative support and analysis of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Masters of Biomedical Science, and other academic programs offered by the COM; this position will conduct research, perform statistical analysis, and make recommendations to program leaders and other parties for CQI of such programs. The employee in this position will support all assessment, accreditation, and compliance efforts for the COM to ensure that curricular programming, outcomes, and revisions are mission aligned promoting excellence in medical education. The Data Analytics and Assessment Coordinator also works collaboratively with COM leadership and all members of the Academic Affairs team to ensure timely and accurate accreditation efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, an understanding of medical education, and the ability to assist in the translation of complex data into actionable insights that enhance student learning and program outcomes. The position reports to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Biostatistics, Higher Education Administration or relevant field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Experience with educational assessment, institutional research, or data analytics, preferably in higher education or health sciences.
  • Must be able to work as a group leader and group member, and be able to communicate effectively to all groups including faculty, staff, administration, and students, through both oral and written channels.
  • Must have strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills and be able to work on multiple projects with conflicting timelines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency is required in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Adobe, and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS) and data visualization tools (Power BI, etc.) to assist with effectively communicating complex data clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Must be able to read, understand, follow, enforce and interpret complex regulations, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Medical Education, Data Analysis and Assessment and COM leadership in strategic planning and the maintenance of policies and procedures to regularly assess and report on curricular activities, strategic goals and other key outcomes.
  • Supports the development and implementation of assessment plans for pre-clinical, clinical, and competency-based curricula.
  • Assists in mapping learning outcomes, curriculum content, and assessment tools to osteopathic core competencies and graduate outcomes; contribute significantly to the development and refinement of the curriculum mapping platform.
  • Assesses National Board preparatory efforts and COMLEX-USA Level 1, 2 and 3 and USMLE Step 1, 2 and 3 outcomes.
  • Collects, validates, and analyzes data required for COCA accreditation standards, annual reports, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with COM departments, teams and leaders on outcomes and accreditation-related tasks; assist with the compilation of evidence for required standards and documentation for annual reports and self-study reports for COCA and other accreditation efforts as necessary.
  • Assists with technology platforms including the website and curricular program reporting content as required by COCA.
  • Assists with course review, coordination, data collection and reporting for outcomes related to admissions, curriculum, COM events, education research, and alumni surveys that impact strategic goals and outcomes of the COM.
  • Extracts, cleans, and maintains datasets from systems such as LMS platforms, exam software (e.g., ExamSoft), electronic portfolios, and student information systems.
  • Develops dashboards, visualizations, and interactive reports using tools such as Power BI or Excel to support strategic planning, curriculum review, and faculty development, administrators, and committees.
  • Prepares routine and ad‑hoc analytical reports related to student performance trends, program outcomes, course evaluations, and key institutional metrics.
  • Provides support for all software programs used for assessment, accreditation, and curricular needs, and be proactive in determining the ongoing and future needs for continued development.
  • Assists with the collection, cleaning, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources (e.g., surveys, exams, evaluations, board scores, clinical performance).
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate curricular effectiveness, assessment reliability, and student progression.
  • Applies statistical techniques to identify trends, gaps, or areas for improvement in academic programs.
  • Supports educational research and scholarship initiatives (e.g., survey design, IRB submissions, longitudinal data studies).
  • Supports the development, execution, evaluation, and reporting of institutional research initiatives relating to medical educational technologies and processes, including benchmarking, trend analysis, and predictive modeling.
  • Develops, administers, and analyzes surveys for students, faculty, alumni, and clinical preceptors, including the post-course student survey of faculty and course effectiveness for all COM programs including the Masters of Biomedical Sciences (MBS), the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), and other programs; gather student performance and feedback data, conduct program assessment, compile information, and prepare and present reports to support the continuous quality improvement process at the COM.
  • Ensures compliance with best practices in survey design, sampling, and data privacy.
  • Actively participate in the completion of annual surveys such as the US News and World Report survey, the AACOM survey, and others as directed by the administration.
  • Produces summary reports and recommendations for program enhancement.
  • Works closely with faculty, the Medical Education Department, the Office of Academic Affairs, and curriculum committees to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Presents findings in a clear and accessible manner to diverse audiences, including academic leadership.
  • Supports training for faculty and staff on basic data interpretation and the use of assessment tools or dashboards.
  • Ensures the integrity, quality, and security of sensitive academic and student data.
  • Maintains compliance with FERPA, institutional policies, and accreditation requirements.
  • Identify and investigates new processes and technologies in the field of medical education assessment which could potentially benefit the COM.
  • Contributes to the development of data standards, documentation, and procedures for institutional assessment processes.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
