About The Position

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority’s Research & Analysis Unit is responsible for managing numerous criminal justice and social science datasets. We seek an experienced manager to lead our data center – the Center for Criminal Justice Data and Analytics. The selected candidate will lead a team that develops public datasets and produces data reports that reach multiple audiences, including ICJIA executive staff, researchers, justice system practitioners, and legislators.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college
  • Requires prior experience equavilent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in research or research project management

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers a master's or doctoral degree in criminal justice, criminology, sociology, public policy political science or related field
  • Prefers five years experience in data analysis, data management, and data analysis code/syntax documentation
  • Preferes four years working knowlege of research methodologies, study designk statistical power and significance, sample size, and randomization schemes; ability to perform advanced statistical anlyses such as regression analysis, ANOVA, factor analysis, cluster analysis, logistic regression, ordinary least squares (OLS) regression, and hierarchical linear modeling (HLM)
  • Prefers four years experience with analysis of complex administrative datasets, particularly criminal justice-related data; analytical skills including critical thinking, data mining, data modeling, database development, design and data structure
  • Prefers four years knowledge of the operation of the criminal justice system; proficient with statistical and visualization data software including SPSS, R, Microsoft SQL server, ArcGIS, and Tableau
  • Prefers fours years experience writing and presenting scientific manuscripts as well as tose for a general audience; grant writing, budgeting, management and reporting
  • Prefers three years of experience in research or research project management
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires a valid and current driver’s license
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history

Responsibilities

  • As manager, responsible for data management
  • Serves as full-line supervisor
  • Retains and expands holding of a wide variety of criminal justice-related and social science datasets and keeps current to share with researchers, practitioners, legislators, and the public
  • Provides statistical support to researchers in the Unit with programming related to statistical analyses and/or database-related tasks
  • Conducts data and statistical presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Provides data support to the Federal States Grants Unit and other projects in the Research Analysis R A Unit
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
