We are seeking an individual interested in gaining practical, hands-on experience outside of the classroom. Detailed Description: How Will You Make an Impact?: Interns at Brown and Caldwell make a daily, material impact by completing support duties to advance their team’s projects and objectives. They receive professional training and the support of their team. Interns can expect to be onboarded, mentored, and developed by industry leaders to develop real-life skills and make an impact on their assigned projects. As a Summer Intern, you can expect your experience to include the following: Collaborate closely with data engineers, software engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to support data initiatives across water, wastewater, environmental engineering, sustainability, and climate projects. Design, build, and maintain Azure-based data pipelines to ingest, transform, and publish structured and unstructured data for analytics and reporting. Develop and enhance Python-based data processing and transformation workflows, including data validation and quality checks. Use Git for version control, participating in collaborative development practices such as pull requests, reviews, and documentation. Support and learn CI/CD practices, including automated testing and deployment of data pipelines and analytics artifacts. Ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability by following established QA/QC processes, data governance standards, and best practices. Communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions. Manage assigned tasks and deliverables on time while developing strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. Complete an Internship Capstone Project that demonstrates growth in cloud data engineering, automation, and analytics over the course of the summer.

Requirements

  • To qualify for an internship, you must be a current undergraduate, graduate, or advanced degree student with a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Academic or project experience using Python, SQL, or data processing libraries.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, and foundational data engineering concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Bash/shell scripting, and command-line interfaces.
  • Exposure to data pipelines, Git, and CI/CD or DevOps principles, through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Strong analytical thinking, clear communication skills, and a desire to learn and apply modern data engineering practices in a real‑world environment.
  • You must be enrolled for the 2025–2026 academic year and plan to continue in Fall 2026.
  • You also must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
