About The Position

The Data Engineering Intern will work for 12-14 weeks (May to August) to help design, develop, and maintain data infrastructure that supports manufacturing operations. The Data Engineering Intern will collaborate with the Data Analyst and cross-functional teams on efforts involving database development, data integration, and process automation.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts is preferred
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis using R (dplyr and other tidyverse packages) or equivalent programming languages is preferred
  • Ability to work with structured and unstructured data from disparate sources
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and system reliability is preferred
  • Eagerness to learn manufacturing processes and apply technical skills to industrial applications is preferred
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills is preferred
  • Capability to work independently and manage project timelines is preferred
  • Current college Junior or Senior earning Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Data Science, Management Information Systems, or related field is preferred
  • Coursework or project experience in database management and programming is preferred
  • Experience in applying technical concepts to solve real-world problems is preferred
  • Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation; c) understand and follow authorization procedures for bringing foreign visitors into facilities (VAL); d) understand the Export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US; e) manage vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement database solutions to replace manual, file-based data processes
  • Develop data pipelines and automation workflows to improve data accessibility and reliability
  • Integrate machine data and manufacturing systems to enable real-time monitoring and analysis
  • Query, clean, and transform data from multiple sources to support operational decision-making
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
  • Apply technical knowledge to support projects involving capacity models, utilization rates, and manufacturing performance metrics
  • Document data structures, processes, and technical workflows
  • Present project outcomes to the local leadership team
  • Limited travel required for workshops and trade shows
