Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech We are searching for the best talent for Data Science Intern, Clinical Omics to be in PA Spring House. The Intern / Co-op term is from June to August, 2026. Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Data Science Intern to support research and development efforts focusing on the Clinical Omics Framework. This internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with the Population Analytics & Insights team to develop pathway enrichment modules for clinical proteomics data. These enhancements will directly inform biomarker strategies and support data-driven clinical trial decision-making across multiple therapeutic areas.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a PhD degree in Computational Biology, Human Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related field
  • Be in your second year or above in school with a graduation date after August 2026
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Authorized to work in the United States during the full duration of the summer internship (05/2026 – 08/2026)
  • Familiarity with basic statistics concepts/terminology
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and have strong oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with proteomics data (SomaScan or Olink preferred)
  • Familiarity with pathway enrichment, mediation analysis, or causal inference methods
  • Programming (e.g. R, Python, etc.) and data analytics experience is strongly preferred
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of analysis modules used to support clinical trial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to refine workflows that integrate proteomics, clinical endpoints, and biological interpretation.
  • Develop pathway enrichment approaches tailored to SomaScan and Olink proteomic platforms.
  • Incorporate causal mediation analysis methods into the clinical omics framework.
  • Evaluate how treatment interventions may influence clinical outcomes through intermediate molecular changes.
