Geotab is seeking a Data Scientist Intern who will immediately contribute to the organization and to the Data and Analytics team. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader - we would love to hear from you! As a Data Scientist Intern your key area of responsibility will be to build new datasets and data pipelines to support new insights for our core product. You will need to work closely with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Data Engineers to build datasets and pipelines to support end-customer reporting and platform-related products.

Requirements

  • Within the final two years of a university degree (Masters or Bachelors) in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills, as well as a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience using SQL.
  • Experience using Python.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Machine Learning algorithms and any dashboarding or data orchestration tools such as Airflow is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Create algorithms and predictive models to extract information required to solve complex business problems.
  • Use data mining, model building, and other analytical techniques to develop new datasets and data-driven solutions.
  • Use SQL (on Google BigQuery) and Python to interact with Geotab’s big data infrastructure.
  • Use Airflow to create automated pipelines in supporting fleet managers reporting use-cases
  • Test the performance of data-driven products and make recommendations for improving Geotab’s product suite.
  • Support data validation and data quality checks for an ongoing, data environment migration initiative
