About The Position

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Data Scientist in our Store Support Center (099). The Data Scientist is responsible for handling and analyzing large volumes of customer and transaction data in order to generate statistically sound insights to drive the business forward. The data scientist will work with Merchandising, Marketing, and Financial Planning & Analysis to understand key business questions and will develop analysis, insights, and potential recommendations. This position reports to the Director of Customer Behavior Analytics.

Requirements

  • 5 years of related experience, Degree in a Data Science, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or quantitative field, advanced degree a plus
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and excellent follow through
  • Strong PC skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, including SQL; general programming language such as Python or R
  • Experience with large data set processing in SnowFlake
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communications skills
  • Proven ability to drive business results with their data driven insights
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Strong collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • With minimal guidance, use advanced statistical and computational methodologies to deliver customer and promotional related insights and recommendations for business teams and leaders
  • Identify ways to use data science techniques to derive useful insights that can be incorporated into existing workflows and processes to enhance business results
  • Evaluate existing and new data sources and apply the right analytical techniques to generate significant insights about customers, products and the business
  • Ability to present findings in simple way to help inform and enable business decisions
  • Ability to implement data science applications in a general programming language such as Python or R
  • Proficiency in employing large scale data analytics to derive actionable insights
  • Ability to interface and collaborate with technical and non-technical team members to accomplish goals
  • Use quantitative skills to work on a variety of research and analysis projects
  • Ad-hoc analyses as required
