About The Position

The Data Solutions Engineer II is responsible for bringing strong knowledge of Data Warehousing (including ETL, development, testing, ad-hoc reporting, and business analysis) to the Finance function and participating in the full life cycle of data and analytic solutions, broadly from requirements through ETL/ELT, production, consumption and ad-hoc reporting.

Requirements

  • Must live in EST to be considered for this position
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ data engineering-level SQL experience (including data modeling, profiling and cleansing, and building complex data sets) is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience building enterprise data solutions (data warehouses and data marts) is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience building customer facing data solutions (PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle, advanced Excel, etc.) is required

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in healthcare data is preferred
  • Experience with Azure Databricks, Spark (PySpark/SparkSQL) and modern data lake/lakehouse platforms (Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, Hadoop).
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering, including data transformation, pipeline development, and analytics support.
  • Advanced SQL expertise, including designing and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines, and implementing data warehouse modeling (fact/dimension, star schema).
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines across staging, curated, and consumption layers.
  • Experience working with diverse data sources including ODS, flat files, EDI/HL7, APIs, and streaming data.
  • Familiarity with Azure ecosystem tools (Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics) is preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI / SSRS / Tableau for reporting and data visualization is added advantage .
  • Knowledge of healthcare data domains including patient, claims, billing, diagnosis, and procedure codes is preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare insurance data such as medical/pharmacy claims, HIE, utilization management (UM), and member demographics is preferred.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft 365 suite, including extensive use of Teams, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (SQL, PowerBI, Azure) is preferred
  • Databricks certification and/or badging is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end data warehouse / data mart solutions, utilizing Databricks and Microsoft technologies. Patterns include traditional dimensional modeling (Kimball), and schema-less (big data) models.
  • Develop data modeling expertise on one or more insurance-specific data / workflows, such as claims, care management (CM), utilization management (UM), eligibility, and population health
  • Partner with Data Solutions Analysts, and line-of-business stakeholders in product ideation, requirements gathering, data reviews, ongoing data quality, and troubleshooting
  • Develop or support reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis supporting business consumers
  • Test, debug, and performance tune data pipelines and end-user queries
  • Maintain the highest level of data security and confidentiality, conforming to all HIPAA and contract requirements
  • Perform any other job duties as requested
