About The Position

The Data Specialist, Value Based Care reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Data Specialist will participate in project planning, process improvement and implementation activities related to data collection and validation workstreams for Analytics/IS builds led by the NMHC Value Based Care Team in support of population health activities across NM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of four years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Data-entry experience
  • Medical record review, EHR data abstraction and collection experience
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years’ experience in related field
  • Epic experience
  • Strong knowledge of data and analytics
  • Experience with payer data (e.g. patient demographics, eligibility data, claims data, supplemental data)
  • Experience working with academic health systems and clinically integrated networks
  • Analytical skills necessary to independently collect, analyze and interpret clinical data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • This Data Specialist position in the NMHC VBC team will participate in data collection and validation workstreams for all Analytics/IS builds related to commercial contracts and government programs in order to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement. These builds include, but are not limited to, the following: Performance dashboards
  • Contract quality measures
  • Utilization management and quality key performance indicators
  • Supplemental data files .
  • Participates in data validation workstreams for data sources and builds related to implementation of an external population health data tool with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participates in performance measure build processes, including but not limited to quality measures, informing scoping and data validation frameworks of various internal and external Analytics/IS builds led by the NMHC VBC team.
  • Utilizes data knowledge to organize data sources informing data exchange processes including but not limited to payer data ingestion and performance reporting processes.
  • Reviews data sources including relevant medical charts to abstract accurate comprehensive data for documentation, data validation and reporting workstreams.
  • Collaborates within NMHC VBC team for interdepartmental learning and identify opportunities to connect initiatives.
  • Participates in, and represents NMHC VBC at key internal NHMC operational and planning meetings.
