The Database Administrator position designs, architects, builds, and maintains databases from business requirements, writing and troubleshooting issues with databases, queries, stored procedures, and user permissions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Installing and configuring the database environment. 2. Applying service packages, security updates and other enhancements as provided by vendors. 3. Execute vendor provided or develop custom scripts to define database objects. 4. Granting and revoking privileges to users and services as defined by software applications. 5. Monitoring server, instance, and database performance. Reviewing error logs, user access and disk usage with various database and operating system tools. 6. Developing, scheduling and managing jobs to ensure nightly backups are created along with other automated tasks that periodically verify integrity of the databases and rebuild system and application indexes. 7. Recovering data using restored data files or database backups. Depending on the data recovery model this may include restoring and replaying transactions logs to facilitate point-in-time requirements. 8. Installing, configuring, and securing database reporting services. Activities include implementation of HTTP services and database hosting on segregated servers. 9. Implement security settings as required by the CIS Benchmarks for database servers. 10. Enrolling, installing, and maintaining certificates to support secure browser and application connectivity. 11. Enabling roles and features to support web site application requirements. 12. Implementing security settings as required by the CIS Benchmarks for IIS. 13. Providing Level II Help Desk support for software products. 14. Maintaining and updating operations manuals, annual reviews, disaster recovery plans, and other documents, records, and information regarding database software. 15. Other duties as assigned.
