About The Position

The Bridges Library System is recruiting for a full-time Database Management Librarian. The Database Management Librarian ensures the integrity and effectiveness of the shared CAFÉ database by both working in the database and working with library employees who catalog library materials. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm (some flexibility allowed within normal business hours). This position is located at the Bridges Library System Office at 741 N. Grand Ave, #210, Waukesha, WI and can be remote 50% of the week after 6 months of employment with permission from the Bridges Library System Director. This position must hold a valid driver’s license for the state of Wisconsin and have regular access to a vehicle that will allow for library site visits. Bridges Library System supports a network of 24 public libraries serving Jefferson and Waukesha counties in southeastern Wisconsin. Requirements

• Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Library Science/Studies.
• Three (3) years of professional work experience as a librarian. Experience in assigned program area highly desirable.
• Original and copy cataloging (Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress, MARC).
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Knowledge of principles and procedures of professional library work.
• Ability to teach and train individuals as well as groups.
• High degree of public facing customer service, with the ability to facilitate and build consensus.
• Experience with computerized cataloging (current ILS is Polaris with Vega discovery layer).
• Ability to travel is required.
• This position must hold a valid driver’s license for the state of Wisconsin and have regular access to a vehicle that will allow for library site visits.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the System CAFÉ catalog through records clean-up, authority control, and other special projects to enhance discoverability.
• Catalogs print and non-print materials within the international OCLC bibliographic utility and the shared CAFÉ catalog.
• Provides consultation for member libraries on topics related to cataloging (i.e. bibliographic records, item records, ILS serials and acquisitions modules, and ILS reports).
• Facilitates regular member library workgroups pertaining to cataloging, serials, and acquisitions.
• Provides general oversight the shared CAFÉ catalog to ensure compliance with national and local cataloging standards.
• Develops and offers training related to cataloging for member library staff, both one-on-one and in groups for library staff who work in the CAFÉ integrated library system.
• Prepares and maintain cataloging, serials, and acquisitions manuals and documentation for group reference and instruction.
• Prepare and present a variety of records, reports, and recommendations regularly and upon request.
• Acts as a liaison/coordinator for system-wide projects between member libraries and vendors related to the cataloging, serials, and acquisitions.
• Maintains current knowledge of professional cataloging and classification rules, use of CAFÉ’s integrated library system, and practices for library material processing.
