About The Position

The Daycare Kitchen Staff at The Goddard School is responsibilities for any food management the franchisee delegates. The food manager must have a good attention to detail and strong organizational skills. We have a Food warming Kitchen and we cater fresh food every day, so primarily it is mostly prepping. The Daycare Kitchen staff will also be acting as Support staff at the Goddard School, who is responsible for any support tasks delegated by the management of the school.

Requirements

  • The ability to prepare food, handle and serve food, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • The ability to understand and comply with the franchisee’s policies relating to food service and employment policies.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, children, and parents.
  • Ability to plan and organize meals for various classrooms, dietary and medical restrictions
  • Inventory management – dating food stored and discarding food after recommended storage protocols
  • Ability to cut, chop, dice and puree fruits and other foods as required by the various age groups
  • Delivering food on time to all classrooms
  • Documenting process flow, meal plan, and other related workflows
  • Ability to create, understand and analyze data and excel work sheets for meal planning
  • The ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies.
  • Willing to wear all the protective gear always as required by Food Handling regulations
  • A current Food Manager Certificate from recognized institution
  • A current Food Safety Manager Certificate (Approved by City of Chicago)
  • A current physical examination by a physician
  • A DCFS background check
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be fully CO-VID Vaccinated.

Nice To Haves

  • Childcare and/or daycare experience
  • Familiarity with HACCP Practices

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safe handling and preparation of all foods.
  • Document and maintain food temperature log in accordance with Food Handling Regulations
  • Preparing menus items including breakfast, lunch and two snacks.
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing Kitchen and Classrooms as needed
  • Serving food to all the classrooms
  • Ensuring that the menus are always in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations relating to food handling.
  • Maintaining appropriate portion sizes.
  • Midday trash removal when needed
  • Filling of dispensers when needed
  • Provide classroom coverage during rest/nap times
  • Supply inventory management - planning, purchasing, organizing supplies needed for the kitchen
  • Be on time
  • Child drop-off/pick-up while adhering to set guidelines provided by the manager.
  • Support a code of ethical conduct
  • Cleaning and sanitizing
  • Active supervision
  • Helping teacher with resources
  • Assist staff with food distribution
  • Opening and closing Checklists
  • Ensure that classroom equipment is in good repair
  • Understand and implement The Goddard School® emergency procedure(s)
  • Promote healthy eating practices at lunch and snack times
  • Ensure that children are always within state ratio requirements
  • Perform minor cleaning responsibilities (e.g., spills) immediately
  • Perform major cleaning during times when children are not present
  • Understand and adhere to the Goddard Systems Inc. Behavior Policy
  • Encourage empathetic and respectful feelings for others, as well as the environment, through positive modeling
  • Respect cultural and ethnic diversity
  • Other duties as assigned
