About The Position

To establish and maintain a teaching, learning, and working environment where faculty, staff, and students are appropriately served within available resources on a college-wide basis and to promote instructional goals and objectives conducive to student success. To provide oversight and support of assigned programs in digital fluency and innovation, online course design and development, integration of digital tools and platforms, online program quality assurance (e.g., Quality Matters), competency-based education (CBE), micro-credential development support and alignment to credit pathways, and faculty development for digital pedagogy.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in project planning, development, and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information and summary reports internally and to the public.
  • Understanding of the community college philosophy and mission.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle the demands and requirements of senior-level management in higher education.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective and ethical leadership, including an understanding of Servant-Leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise in concepts and principles related to digital learning pedagogy, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  • Demonstrated expertise in alternative credentialing models, including micro-credentials, CBE, and workforce-aligned pathways.
  • Strong grasp of educational technology trends and best practices that enhance teaching, learning, and student success.
  • Working in a collaborative manner with multicultural constituencies.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Working effectively with a multi-cultural student body and staff.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Providing leadership at all levels of the college.
  • Planning, prioritizing, and problem-solving.
  • Handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Planning and managing budgets and manpower needs.
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
  • Five years related work experience including supervision/management.
  • Master's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining digital learning services.
  • Ensures all online and digital instructional resources are accessible, equitable, and responsive to a multicultural student body while maintaining strict compliance with THECB and SACSCOC standards in alignment with the college’s mission.
  • Partners with academic leadership to investigate and resolve student grievances, leveraging LMS data and digital analytics to ensure objective, data-informed outcomes for grade appeals, academic dishonesty cases, and instructional complaints.
  • Ensures consistent and appropriate application of administrative rules within the assigned department, hiring of staff, planning and budgeting, equipment and software needs, selection, supervision and evaluation of staff, and preparation of reports as required.
  • Supervises and evaluates support staff.
  • Initiates and manages special projects and assignments.
  • Participates in shared governance through service on collegewide councils and committees.
  • Provides leadership and advocacy in the planning, implementing, assessing, and ongoing improvement of online courses and programs.
  • Ensures that all faculty teaching online are appropriately certified.
  • Convenes advisory committees, works with Grants Development Office, and maintains community partnerships in support of programmatic goals.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with external business and appropriate community organizations.
