Applicants beyond fifty (50) miles may still be considered.Job SummaryThis position provides critical decision support for Farmers Independent Agency Distribution team across the enterprise by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to address business challenges. The role applies advanced or innovative mathematical, statistical, and quantitative techniques to draw conclusions and deliver actionable recommendations that drive efficiency, growth, and profitability. It interprets large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends then communicates findings to business partners and leadership to support informed decision-making. The role mentors, trains, and coaches less experienced team members and supervises direct reports who are individual contributors or people leaders with small span of control. The position performs work independently while receiving guidance and coaching in only the most complex situations.People Leader + Individual Contributor Work Overseeing a small team. Overseeing 1 analyst that may grow up to a team of 4 analysts in the years ahead. Hands on coding skills required. In this role you will be overseeing a small team, while being a hands-on leader as you will be coding. This role is a combination of individual contributor work (coding) and people leader work for a small team, with 1 analyst oversight from the beginning. In this role you will work with leadership side by side on setting strategic roadmaps. We are seeking those with a strategic mindset and someone who is comfortable presenting to Sr. leadership. What You'll Do

Requirements

  • Minimum seven years of work experience required in data analysis, statistical or mathematical modeling, or related.
  • Experience in a people leader or management role required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree required in data science, statistics, mathematics, business analytics or related.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills. Advanced storytelling skills with ability to communicate complex data insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills. Demonstrated analytical skills. Strong ability to craft strategic business plans and translate them into actionable steps for direct reports and indirect teams across three or more business domains. Proven ability to drive strategic enablement and contribute to enterprise strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents. Demonstrated ability to explain strategic concepts to those unfamiliar with them.

Broad knowledge of data analysis and manipulation tools (SQL, Python, SAS, R, and/or Snowflake). Broad knowledge of data visualization tools (example, Tableau, Power BI). Proficiency in working with datasets including data wrangling and data munging. Able to adapt quickly to new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Leads discussions with cross-functional business partners and teams to understand and collaborate on complex business objectives. Shapes solution strategies and outcomes by leveraging broad knowledge of the business and overseeing collaboration across teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness. Uses breadth of expertise in data analysis to deliver insights that enable informed decision-making.
  • Develops and implements advanced or innovative mathematical, statistical, and quantitative techniques to solve medium-to-large scale business problems that significantly impact current and future business strategies. Leads the creation of descriptive or explanatory models and oversees effective use of them.
  • Analyzes large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities. Leverages interactive data visualization tools and statistical techniques such as distribution analysis, correlation analysis, outlier detection, multivariate analysis, time series, machine learning, and others to uncover hidden insights. Conducts comprehensive exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover opportunities including testing hypotheses and validating findings with business partners.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional technical teams including IT, data scientists, data engineers and others to ensure data integrity and optimize data pipelines. Identifies data quality issues and collaborates to resolve them. Assists deployment and monitoring of complex-to-highly complex predictive models into workflows.
  • Leads the transformation of technical data insights into communications and presentations for non-technical business partners and leadership to ensure data-driven insights and recommended action plans are easily understandable. Uses advanced storytelling approaches to make complex information more accessible and guide stakeholders to adopt a certain point of view.
  • Oversees the collection and integration of data from a variety of sources and transforms disparate datasets in to cohesive datasets for analysis. Assesses data quality and implements data hygiene techniques to ensure accuracy and consistency. Leads data reliability efforts by managing data quality checks, data documentation processes, and collaboration with experienced analysts for peer review and data validation.
  • Supervises, guides, coaches, and manages the performance of direct reports. Delivers regular feedback and supports professional development. Relies on proven skill in employee engagement to foster a high-performance culture where excellence is standard and innovation is actively encouraged.
  • Stays informed about emerging decision and data science methodologies, tools, and best practices. Applies knowledge and continuous learning to improve the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, including direct reports. Actively seeks feedback and engages in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and contribute effectively to team and business unit objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.
