About The Position

The Dedicated Aide is an import part of the student success and special education team. Each Dedicated Aide is an integral member of the GGA instructional team who will be responsible for supporting special education students with personalized and focused supports. This role reports to the Special Education Coordinator and will work closely with teachers to support one or more students. Key Expectations: Dedicated Aides support the instructional program by implementing teacher-directed lessons and accommodations aligned to students’ IEPs, 504 Plans, and classroom expectations. Dedicated Aides do not independently design curriculum or submit lesson plans but are expected to be familiar with daily objectives and instructional goals. Dedicated Aides play a critical role in supporting school culture and student safety. This includes assigned duties during arrival, dismissal, transitions, hallways, lunch, and other supervision periods as outlined in the master schedule. Dedicated Aides are expected to collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, deans, and administrators to ensure students receive consistent academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support throughout the school day. As partners in education with families, Dedicated Aides maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Communication with caregivers occurs through or in coordination with lead teachers and administrators, unless otherwise directed. Dedicated Aides are expected to support accurate documentation, including attendance, behavior tracking, service logs, and other records required for compliance and student support.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree preferred but not required.
  • Have a minimum of three years of work in a school environment.
  • Background knowledge with IEPs and special education students preferred.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of instructional strategies for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides consistent, individualized support to assigned student(s) throughout the school day in alignment with documented learning, behavioral, medical, and social-emotional needs.
  • Implements instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications as directed by the classroom teacher and special education team.
  • Supports student engagement, task completion, organization, and self-regulation during academic instruction and independent work periods.
  • Reinforces positive behavior supports and assists with de-escalation strategies in accordance with school policies and student support plans.
  • Assists with the administration of teacher-designed formative assessments and classroom activities, ensuring appropriate access and support for the student.
  • Encourages student independence, confidence, and self-advocacy while avoiding over-prompting or doing work on the student’s behalf.
  • Supports inclusive classroom practices that affirm diverse identities, abilities, and lived experiences.
  • Implements instructional and behavioral strategies using guidance from teachers, specialists, and administrators.
  • Uses approved technology tools and classroom resources to support differentiated instruction and accessibility.
  • Participates actively in team meetings, student support discussions, and problem-solving conversations related to assigned students.
  • Maintains accurate, timely records related to student progress, services provided, and observations, as required.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to engage in ongoing learning and skill development.
  • Builds positive, respectful relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations.
  • Supports schoolwide culture by modeling GGA’s values of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and safety.
  • Participates in required weekly and monthly professional development sessions and school initiatives.
  • Collaborates effectively with classroom teachers and special education staff through co-teaching models and coordinated student support.
