Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • X-Ray Certification
  • Current CPR Certification
  • 2+ years of dental assisting experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in both clinical and administrative environments
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on patient care

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and hygienists during a variety of dental procedures by preparing instruments and materials and ensuring efficient chairside support.
  • Prepare and sterilize treatment areas in accordance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Collect and record patient medical and dental histories and update charts as needed.
  • Take dental radiographs in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Assist with advanced procedures such as crown and bridge preparations, oral surgery procedures, and endodontic treatment.
  • Maintain dental equipment and operatories while ensuring all instruments are properly sterilized.
  • Manage operatory supplies and assist with inventory tracking and ordering needs.
  • Perform laboratory duties such as pouring impressions, trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, retainers, mouth guards, and other appliances.
  • Ensure lab cases are properly documented with lab slips and coordinate with dental laboratories when needed.
  • Provide patient education including oral hygiene instructions, consent forms, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Conduct post-operative follow-up calls to patients following procedures such as extractions, crowns, or root canals.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling to ensure optimal daily production and efficient patient flow.
  • Schedule treatment, follow-up appointments, and hygiene visits according to doctor and hygienist availability.
  • Assist patients in answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding them through their treatment plan and next steps.
  • Provide smooth patient handoffs between clinical and administrative teams.
  • Confirm appointments and help manage schedule changes or patient cancellations.
  • Participate in daily team huddles to support schedule success and patient care goals.
  • Support other administrative or clinical duties as needed to ensure a positive patient experience.
