About The Position

Dental Surgical Assistant to members of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the resident staff. Provide chairside surgical support to the oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures and the facial pain physicians. Performs a wide variety of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures with competency. Provide surgical support to the oral and maxillofacial surgeon chairside for surgery procedures as well as facial pain physicians. Sterilize instrumentation and prepare tray setups. Setup required instrumentation in sterile environment Maintain all logs for inspections/certifications per OMFS workflows Reprocess/sterilize equipment and prepare tray set-up per protocol Maintain sterile technique while assisting in sterile OMFS procedures Proficient in radiographs – CBCT, Peri-apical and Panorex x-rays, Take, order and document radiographs appropriately Follow clinical policies/ procedures and workflows to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission, OSHA, ADA, as well as TJUH Safety, Infection Control and Quality Assurance Maintain patient electronic medical record per OMFS charting workflows Ensure Patient safety following BLS guidelines and maintain current BLS certification Travel to other OMFS offices. Job Description Education: High School Diploma required Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred. Experience in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice preferred. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of medical terminology and experience in dealing with medically compromised individuals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Pennsylvania certification in Oral Radiology is required within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS certification required (through American Heart Association)
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of medical terminology and experience in dealing with medically compromised individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice preferred.
  • Accredited dental assisting program certification preferred.
