The Atlanta Department of Transportation’s Deputy Commissioner, Strategy Planning, and Performance focuses on driving strategic allocation of resources and ensuring the achievement of the ATLDOT Strategic Transportation Plan. Duties include but are not limited to: providing professional and technical staff assistance, providing strategic advice to the Commissioner and/or Mayor’s Office, and managing key strategic initiatives for the department. Direction received is very general and focuses on strategic objectives and is typically collaborative in nature. This is a policy-making level of management and would be considered “upper” management. Recommends organization strategy and policy changes within required legislative or executive limitations and may make purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organization guidelines. Has managerial authority over a group of professional employees and/or a group of professional, technical, or administrative employees engaged in a broad functional area. Areas of responsibility are typically unique within the department.
