About The Position

Leads the District’s efforts to provide robust and engaging enrichment and extended learning opportunities K-12. This includes overseeing the District’s Out of School Time programs including before/after school and summer programming and planning for innovative ways to expand enrichment experiences across the District. In addition, oversees the Student Leadership and Student Transition Center team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, educational administration or a related field.
  • Ten years of full-time paid, educational experience, at least five of which have been in a school based administrative or supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: the principles of educational administration.
  • research-based school improvement designs and current issues facing urban public education.
  • governmental statues and regulations relating to instruction and curriculum.
  • state and national trends that affect development and improvements in curriculum design.
  • standards and current curriculum frameworks.
  • curriculum development and implementation, as well as authentic assessment practices.
  • implementing differentiated instructional methods and techniques.
  • leading and implementing broad-based initiatives and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to: provide leadership in organizational or school change.
  • improve student outcomes.
  • coordinate, facilitate and implement diversified interdisciplinary programs.
  • coordinate and oversee the work of staff and attain effective results.
  • formulate and implement professional development for adult learners.
  • effectively represent the District in a professional manner and serve in a liaison capacity.
  • evaluate data and prepare cogent recommendations.
  • use a personal computer to develop presentations, documents, spreadsheets and analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the vision and promotes a District-wide culture focused on enrichment, opportunity, and whole-child development in collaboration with internal offices and external partnerships.
  • Serves as a key District liaison to external partners, city agencies, and internal departments to ensure alignment between student life programs and District-wide strategic priorities, including Accelerate Philly.
  • Monitors and evaluates program outcomes using qualitative and quantitative data to ensure continuous improvement and equitable access across all student demographics.
  • Oversees the strategic execution of new and existing student programs by managing the funding, implementation timeline, ensuring sustainability, and directing supporting staff.
  • Supervises and supports staff responsible for advancing departmental and District goals, providing coaching and performance feedback grounded in best practices.
  • Assesses and implements innovative models to enhance student experiences both in and out of school, using research and national best practices as benchmarks.
  • Designs and implements a strategic monitoring framework to assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, including data-informed action planning and reporting cycles.
  • Collaborates across departments to coordinate service delivery for student programs, ensuring streamlined and student-centered operations.
  • Engages stakeholders consistently and transparently to build awareness, trust, and shared ownership of strategic priorities.
  • Manages budget development and oversight for programs across multiple funding streams, ensuring proper use and alignment to program design.
  • Tracks and monitors expenditures, ensuring accuracy, fiscal responsibility, and compliance.
  • Leads the development of grant proposals and strategic plans, including measurable goals, budgets, and performance indicators to guide implementation and accountability.
  • Performs related functions as required.
