About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Lead to join our e-commerce agency team. This role involves leading design strategy and execution, managing multiple projects, mentoring a design team, and collaborating closely with clients and cross-functional partners to deliver user-focused, business-driven design solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant design experience with at least 2 years focused on e-commerce website design.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma, Sketch and Adobe XD; intermediate skills in Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong understanding of UX design, responsive and accessible design, CRO, and Shopify platform standards.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries.
  • Intermediate knowledge of motion graphics, animation, and email marketing campaigns.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing design team members, mentoring, and delegating work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present to clients and internal leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and sprint workflows is a plus.
  • Experience working collaboratively with developers, UX researchers, and content strategists.

Responsibilities

  • Transform client needs and challenges into persuasive design solutions with consultative presentations.
  • Identify and communicate design problems and propose creative, user- and business-focused solutions.
  • Apply expert knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and conversion rate optimization.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative research methods to inform design recommendations.
  • Incorporate motion graphics, animation, and email marketing design where applicable.
  • Articulate and negotiate design decisions with clients.
  • Manage design deliverables, including maintaining design systems and component libraries.
  • Participate actively in sprint ceremonies, prioritize tasks, and manage timelines across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate design hand-offs to development and quality assurance teams and support implementation.
  • Provide timely updates via project management tools and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of designers, including hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.
  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions, workshops, and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Support project managers with design-related queries and estimations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in meetings and communications, including punctuality, preparedness, and etiquette.
