We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to join our team as a 1099 independent contractor. Candidate to execute the following activities as part of the 3D Engineering Team Hardware Deployment / PC Refresh: Receive new laptops from the hardware vendor Install required applications on the new laptops Inventory the laptops for any additional software, if required Register and activate SIM / eSIM profiles, if required Perform data transfer from current laptops to new laptops Conduct laptop refresh classes (sessions for users where new laptops are handed over to them and day-1 support is provided, if required; typically organized for 10-15 users at a time) Install applications on the new laptops, on a like-for-like basis, based on the existing laptop inventory Activate SIM / eSIM profiles where required Conduct laptop refresh classes at Berlin, CT Assist users with initial login, MFA, and network / VPN connectivity during refresh classes Transfer user data from current to new laptop during refresh classes Support users with additional application installation needs during refresh classes Receive current laptops from users / business project coordinators and update device status in Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Perform drive erasure and prepare old devices for compliant disposal High-level steps: Before refresh class Confirm device inventory, serials, and assigned users OS patched; Dell firmware & drivers updated Pre-stage installers for applications to be installed Perform Network / VPN test Confirm SIM / eSIM profiles / portal access, if required Prepare shipping materials & labels for NH batch, as required Ensure erasure tool approval & logging template readiness Print quick start guide & FAQ
