About The Position

The Detail Planning Organization is responsible for the creation and maintenance of issued work instructions, including incorporation of design changes (CRs/CNs), problem sheets, and work transfers. The candidates selected for this Detail Planning Process Team position will be responsible for participating in the Detail Planning First Time Quality Program, conducting surveillances to ensure adherence to quality standards, perform ATA surveillances, assist in the development of process maps and procedures, identify areas of weakness in existing training, and assist in execution of the Detail Planning training curriculum. Continuous training and development of department personnel is necessary to the successful delivery of VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines. This role will help develop detail planners, mentors, and leads within the specific Detail Planning disciplines, to improve knowledge and experience across the Department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 18+ months of experience in Planning OR 18+ months of experience leading training or teaching
  • Experience mentoring or delivering training
  • Demonstrated usage of Planning, manufacturing, or database software
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Highly Detailed oriented
  • Works well independently and takes initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Ability to make independent decisions, staying objective at all times, and adapt to urgent changes to priorities
  • Strong Critical thinking
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork based skills

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months of SME/ Team lead and mentor experience
  • 2+ years of experience in an Education Role or developing and delivering training
  • Experience with the COLUMBIA/VIRGINIA end to end process as it applies to the integration of Planning and the Electric Boat shipyards
  • Experience in creation of lesson plans/development of curriculum or experience in creating and updating detail planning processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated understanding of one or more of the additional Planning toolsets, including ARTEMIS, MPP , CATIA/CDM, MRP, and PCM/EWP
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite experience, specifically Visio

Responsibilities

  • Identify process/IPDE tool/procedure gaps and help foster a culture of continuous learning
  • Provide ownership and maintenance of Detail Planning Process Maps and Job Aids
  • Adherence to processes, procedures, and standards
  • Collaboration with peers and supervision for the development of new processes and procedures
  • Supporting department goals related to quality and attainment
  • Assist workforce development and the Detail Planning Team in identifying training needs, development, and delivery of detail planning training curriculum
  • Occasional travel to QP and Groton (less than 50%)
