About The Position

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been fulfilling its mission of ensuring endangered species are maintained, researched and protected for over 100 years. The Zoo also prides itself on providing excellent experiences to guests and donors through our Development department. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Development Event Experience Manager. The Development Event Experience Manager will focus on planning, coordinating, and executing established fundraising events, including ZOOtoDo, while ensuring high-quality guest and donor experience. The role is responsible for managing event logistics, timelines, budgets, marketing initiative, and ticket tracking, as well as collaborating with multiple internal departments and external partners to support successful event delivery. Duties include developing event content and communications, overseeing day-of execution, serving as a primary point of contact for vendors, identifying opportunities for event growth, and providing exceptional customer service. The role also requires managing multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining organized systems and records, and contributing to the evaluation and future improvement of events. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and may require in excess of forty hours per scheduled workweek occasionally. Reports to the Director of Strategic Event Development.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Minimum one-year experience in planning, budgeting, and event management required.
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays as required by event schedule or department needs. Some specific event days are required, and during some special events, scheduled working hours may be extended up to 12 consecutive hours.
  • Must have the ability to transport and move items up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions including cold and hot temperatures, snow and humidity.
  • Must be able to stand up to 8 hours as required on event days.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, event management or marketing is preferred
