2026-2027 School Year Qualifications/Experience: Valid Minnesota teaching license in Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE). Experience working with students with disabilities in school-based settings preferred. Knowledge of special education processes including evaluation, IEP development, and service delivery. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including teachers, therapists, and support staff. Experience implementing individualized instruction and accommodations for students with diverse learning and physical needs. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Needed: Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and state special education criteria. Ability to assess students’ physical and motor development and design individualized physical education programs. Skill in adapting physical education curriculum and activities to meet individual student needs. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with staff, families, and community providers. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation and compliance requirements. Ability to create safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments for students with disabilities. Specific Tasks: Provide Developmental Adapted Physical Education services to students who qualify through the special education evaluation process. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine eligibility and service needs in DAPE. Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals related to motor development and physical education access. Provide direct and/or consultative DAPE instruction in accordance with student IEPs. Adapt equipment, environments, and activities to support student participation and skill development. C ollaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, therapists, and administrators to support student success. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and communicate progress to families and team members. Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district and state special education requirements. Participate in IEP meetings, evaluation planning meetings, and other student support meetings as required. Ensure safety procedures are followed during physical activities and instruction.
