About The Position
This role operates at an enterprise architectural level, owning the design, governance, and long‑term evolution of Azure DevOps ecosystems across multiple product lines. The Azure DevOps Architect defines reference architectures, establishes DevSecOps standards, and ensures that infrastructure, pipelines, security controls, and operational practices align with RS&I delivery and governance standards. The Azure DevOps Architect partners closely with Principal Engineers, implementation teams, security leadership, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable cloud platforms while providing architectural oversight throughout each project’s lifecycle. The role also includes leading schedule and cost estimate preparation at the program level, collaborating with cross‑discipline teams to deliver complex projects on time and within budget, and mentoring less experienced associates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Microsoft Azure Architect Expert certification (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure architecture roles.
- 3+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale CI/CD and IaC solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps Services, including Azure Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, and Artifacts.
- Strong working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, including module design, state management, and environment strategy.
- Strong experience integrating security, compliance, and identity controls into cloud and DevOps architectures.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python.
- Proven experience in requirements discovery, solution design, and executive-level communication.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure platform services and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Architect and govern end‑to‑end Azure DevOps and cloud platform solutions, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), security controls, monitoring, and release management.
- Define, maintain, and evolve reference architectures, design patterns, and standards for Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Azure‑native services to support reuse across product lines.
- Provide architectural oversight and technical direction to implementation teams, ensuring solutions meet scalability, reliability, and security best practices.
- Lead DevSecOps strategy, embedding security, compliance, identity, and risk management controls into pipelines and infrastructure designs from the outset.
- Collaborate with project teams and other stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into actionable architectures and delivery roadmaps.
- Review and approve infrastructure designs, pipeline configurations, and automation frameworks prior to implementation to ensure architectural integrity.
- Define and deliver supporting documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, operational handoffs, and configuration baselines.
- Communicate architectural decisions, risks, trade‑offs, and long‑term impacts to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop technical staff, contributing to Mitchell1’s internal DevOps, cloud, and architectural maturity.
