The Full Time Dialysis Nurse provides comprehensive hemodialysis care for patients at Sheridan Community Hospital in Sheridan Michigan This role ensures safe effective and high-quality dialysis treatment while supporting patients and families through education and compassionate clinical care

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse RN license in the State of Michigan
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience including at least 1 year in a dialysis or nephrology setting preferred
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently in a Critical Access Hospital environment

  • ACLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care during hemodialysis treatments ensuring safety and adherence to clinical standards
  • Monitor patient responses before during and after dialysis sessions and intervene appropriately
  • Perform and document patient assessments vital signs and treatment progress
  • Collaborate with nephrologists’ hospital staff and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
  • Operate troubleshoot and maintain dialysis equipment in compliance with safety protocols
  • Provide patient and family education regarding dialysis treatments and homecare practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record EMR
  • Follow infection control policies and maintain a clean safe clinical environment
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the dialysis program
  • Experience with cannulation is required
  • Participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Attend training and meetings as required
  • Maintains awareness of current quality and safety measures on the unit and follows guidelines or reporting measures to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Knowledge and skills in quality improvement and research methodologies.
