About The Position

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed independent practitioner, the Dialysis Tech II assists with a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. These include assistance with activities of daily living, comfort care and nutritional support, and performance of selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed. Indirect patient care activities include maintaining a clean safe environment, and ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment

Requirements

  • Certification by the Board of Nephrology Examiners-Nursing Technology (BONENT) or the National Nephrology Certification Organization (NNCO) as a Dialysis Technician
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification
  • Current Dialysis Technician Certification
  • Completion of state recognized CNA program OR Completion of first semester junior year in a BSN VCU/MCV BSN students: Completion of Sophomore year, Nursing 201, 202, 261 Associate Degree and Diploma programs: completion of first year or a minimum of two semesters of basic nursing courses Specialty areas e.g. pediatrics, women’s health, psychiatry may require completion of a clinical rotation in that area or Completion of medical assistant program
  • High School Graduate or GED and Completion of EMT program

Nice To Haves

  • Acute care experience as a nursing assistant or aide experience

Responsibilities

  • Functions under direction of RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
  • Supervises Dialysis Tech I`s schedules and responsibilities.
