About The Position

The Diet Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of duties in the support of the Clinical Dietitians and Patient Tray line area of Nutritional Services. Performs clerical duties related to the communication of patient diet orders from Physicians/Nursing units to trayline for food tray assembly. Also performs clerical duties related communications from Nursing Units to Dietitians. This position is responsible for keeping daily records, supporting CQI/PI or data collection projects, conserving resources, promoting excellent customer relations. Perform all other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required preferred.
  • Math skills necessary to tabulate reports and records.
  • Must be able to write legibly in order to edit tray tickets as needed.
  • Must be able to operate computer terminal, hi-volume computer printers, copy machine, telephone, and fax machine.
  • Good finger dexterity to handle many pieces of paper throughout the day.
  • Must be able to handle stressful conditions and be able to meet required deadlines during the day.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and special diets
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in Nutrition Classes preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager Certification preferred.
  • Minimum one year in healthcare food service/clerical experience a plus
  • Experience in diet office/clerical in a facility greater than 100 beds
