ROLE SUMMARY: The Project Leader is responsible for building and executing innovative imaging and novel digital medicine-based strategies, with a specific focus and subject matter expertise in MRI / MRS, for multiple therapeutic programs. Their primary focus will be on identifying, developing scientific and technological solutions for validating, qualifying and utilizing imaging and digital endpoints, with a primary focus on MRI / MRS imaging endpoints, to measure the impact of therapeutic interventions across the enterprise. The Project Leader will be the key subject matter expert/point of contact for that project and lead/be a part of a multidisciplinary project team/s and are accountable for the design and progression of clinical methodological studies utilizing the deployment of existing, qualified imaging techniques as well as developing novel imaging paradigms. These techniques may require translation and clinical qualification as well as advanced analytics. While MRI is the primary modality focus for this position, the Project lead will not be limited to just MRI and MRS activities/modalities. The Project Lead will interact with key internal and external stakeholders, collaborate and strategize with individuals and teams across research and development, determine the most appropriate approach to advance projects, evaluate new technologies /methods, as well as interpret data for asset teams. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide scientific leadership, strategic direction and expertise to Research and Development in the application of Magnetic Resonance Technologies (MRI and MRS) to support the development of medicines from target identification through Proof-of-Concept. Exhibits substantial scientific and operational bandwidth simultaneously leading multiple projects across different therapeutic areas and stages of development. Responsible for championing innovative scientific and technical measures and strategies to deliver differentiated solutions for preclinical and clinical teams/programs from idea to implementation to regulatory qualification. Exhibits significant learning agility and build deep knowledge around disease biology, biomedical engineering or data analytics for the programs they lead. Responsible for determining the most effective technical or analytical solution for a given project considering cost, technical and operational feasibility and time to delivery. Leverages experience to not only lead the project internally but also collaborate with partners in other units within Pfizer and/or in the external academic, medical and technology community to identify and advance their project(s). Manage investment risk in individual projects through early identification of key questions, the development of a clear technical, clinical and experimental plan to build confidence in the approach and ability to ultimately deliver the required solution. Identifies major operational and logistical risks and develops and implements effective mitigation. Inspires strategic and operational excellence in a matrixed organization. Coordinates with client research or development teams to ensure alignment on the project objectives and deliverables. Demonstrates ability to be an effective communicator; keeping leadership, partners and team members well informed of strategy and progress and will also be able to effectively represent projects to governance organizations, external advisors and potential partners. Contributes to the broader Project Leader community through sharing best-practice and may mentor and coach other project leaders as required. Be a primary point of contact for external academic and industrial partners and collaborators for projects involving the use of MRI technologies. Develops key relationships across the organization to ensure that MRI technology expertise is furnished to leadership as needed. Maintain cutting edge knowledge of the MR imaging field; be aware of major advances and emerging trends and maintain excellent links with academic groups worldwide. Provide input on study protocols, acquisition techniques and parameters, analysis, and imaging-specific trial documents. Assist in selection of imaging core labs and external collaborators. Provide oversight of image-related trial conduct and deliverables. Educate research and clinical teams on the values and limitations of various MRI techniques.
