About The Position

The Digital Technician supports photographers during studio shoots by managing digital capture systems, image workflow, and asset organization. This position allows photographers to focus on creative direction and talent interaction while the Digital Tech ensures the technical execution and data integrity of the shoot. This is a variable-hour position averaging approximately 24 hours per week, with assignments based on production needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Fine Arts, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of on-set experience as a Digital Tech, Photo Assistant, or similar role in a studio environment.
  • Strong knowledge of digital capture software, particularly Capture One.
  • Experience with professional camera systems (Canon, Nikon, Sony, medium format).
  • Knowledge of studio lighting systems such as Profoto, Broncolor, or Arri.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management and file transfer workflows.
  • Experience with Macintosh systems and studio production hardware.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting ability.
  • Calm, professional presence on set.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on a studio floor.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move throughout a studio and warehouse production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in high-volume eCommerce or fashion photography production preferred.
  • Familiarity with image workflow systems such as ShotFlow is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage Capture One Pro, ShotFlow, and digital asset workflows during studio shoots.
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain camera systems, computers, monitors, and related production equipment.
  • Ensure accurate image capture including focus, exposure, color balance, and file integrity.
  • Manage on-set image processing, backup, and file transfer.
  • Act as the liaison between on-set production and post-production teams to manage edits, missing images, and urgent requests.
  • Assist photographers with studio setup and breakdown.
  • Maintain organized digital file structures and ensure assets are delivered according to studio and client standards.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to cameras, capture software, or workflow systems.
  • Occasionally assist with additional studio production needs as required.
