Direct Materials Buyer — Manufacturing Supply Chain
About The Position
A day in this role Join a West Chicago manufacturer as an on-site, full-time, direct hire professional. Your schedule runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, embedded with the operations you support. Morning: you review the ERP dashboard, validate raw material purchase orders, and follow up with suppliers to keep deliveries on schedule. Urgent expedites from the customer service team get your immediate attention. Midday: you meet with production to sync on upcoming builds, talk through issues, and flag opportunities to improve flow. Afternoon: you partner with the estimating team to gather quotes and technical details, then update ERP master data so lead times, pricing, material descriptions, and datasheets are complete and current. Throughout the day, you circulate pricing changes to the right internal stakeholders and support a tight-knit team in hitting department goals. What you’ll handle Place and track purchase orders; communicate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery. Prioritize and manage purchase order expedites from the customer service team. Contribute within a small team to complete tasks and achieve department objectives. Create and maintain accurate raw material records in the ERP system, including descriptions, datasheet attachments, supplier lead times, and pricing. Partner with the estimating team to secure supplier quotes and needed information. Monitor supplier pricing and route updates to relevant internal parties. Collaborate closely with customer service and production to communicate material deliveries, surface issues, and identify improvements.
