About The Position

The Direct Support Professional II provides supervision to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. DSP II will apply crisis intervention principles as appropriate throughout their shifts and are responsible for preparing the necessary documentation. DSP II is required to attend meetings and training programs relevant to the position. Duties may change or expand as this position is further developed. EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited High School or G.E.D certificate issued in accordance with Texas law. Prefer some college background in Psychology, Social work, or Sociology. A minimum of one-year experience or education working with persons with mental illness/chemical dependency preferred. Experience providing respite and crisis services preferred Supervisory experience a plus. Must be professional and possess good interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to organize work schedules and set priorities. Basic knowledge of computers and related software. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Ability to work as a team member interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders. Must be certified or willing to become certified in CPR/AED, First Aid, Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB), Medication Supervision Training and other training as required. Ability to present communication effectively between levels of staff and consumers. Ability to present information and direct a group. Must Possess adequate writing skills. REQUIREMENTS Valid Texas Driver License required. Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years. Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to complete all MHMR Concho Valley training.
