PRN (as needed) Direct Support Professional - Day Support Program
About The Position
The Helton House has immediate openings for PRN (as needed) Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for our Day Support Programs. The Direct Support Professional provides direct training and support (assistance) to individuals who reside or participate in Helton House programs. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with daily tasks, personal care, and social activities. You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of those you support, fostering their independence and enhancing their quality of life. This is a rewarding and fulfilling position that requires patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills. The Day Support Programs operate Monday through Friday from approximately 8am - 4:30pm. This position starts at $15.50 per hour. The schedule will vary depending on program needs. Some shifts will be scheduled in advance to cover staff out on vacation and leave but there will also be shifts that come open due to call outs that will be available as well. The successful candidate will need to be able to work a flexible and be able to fill in last minute when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals, as needed
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Support individuals in maintaining a clean and safe living environment
- Implement individualized support plans based on the unique needs and goals of each individual
- Encourage and participate in community integration activities, promoting social inclusion and skills development
- Administer medication and monitor health and well-being of individuals
- Document and maintain accurate records of daily activities, progress, and any incidents that occur
