Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking an Direct Support professional to work in our IDD program in Turner County, Georgia. Under general supervision, DSP's provide training and support services to persons with developmental disabilities in a program which includes employment and community support. Must be able to work independently and maintain accurate, current Medicaid waiver records, which includes composing narrative statements for billing purposes. Creates activities and develops educational lesson plans. Provide transportation for consumers in agency vehicles to access community resources and other activities. Maintains good communication with individuals and family. Initiates educational training for adults. Performs routine sanitizing of environment and other duties as assigned in order to maintain safety regulations for CARF. Assist with coordinating transportation needs for consumers. Teamwork with other staff to provide the highest quality IDD services to consumers is essential. Computer skills are required. Working Conditions: Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations. May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Requires varying hours of duty to provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling, as well as travel to off campus locations in BHSGA or personal vehicle. Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects or assist clients.
