About The Position

Serve as the central corporate communications leader responsible for growing awareness and building a reputation for the Truist Technology, Data, & Operations function. Develop internal and external communications strategy for the TD&O function, including proactive PR, internal communications, leadership message development, spokesperson training and issues management. Provide communications counsel to TD&O leaders to effectively communicate key corporate, business priorities and issues internally as well as generate positive news to build the company’s brand, advance our purpose, and promote our solutions and services. Work closely with all aspects of the Corporate Communications function to integrate the TD&O narrative and further the Truist story with key audiences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Collaborate with Corporate Communications Leadership team to develop corporate communications strategies, ensure alignment and implement in them in the businesses. 2. Working with key business and function leaders, lead a team of communications professionals in developing high-impact internal and external communications strategies and content to help advance the unit’s broader business objectives. Oversee deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity and quality. Develop a cohesive, resilient team that fosters leadership, prizes teamwork and rewards initiative. 3. Work with media relations team to mitigate issues in the media, often working with operations or counseling leaders on announcements or containment strategies. 4. Create opportunities to secure positive news and manage media and PR relationships to build the organization’s reputation, the company’s brand and promote our solutions and services. 5. Provide communications counsel to senior leaders and others. Serve as a resource for complex solutions to communications issues. 6. Develop thought leadership and executive visibility strategy including internal teammate engagements and external thought leadership opportunities. 7. Identify and resolve technical, operational, risk management, business, and organizational challenges, and establish long-term solutions for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and fifteen years of communications experience, or equivalent education and related training or experience
  • Experience supporting the communication needs of C-level executives
  • Ability to collaborate, negotiate with and influence peers and senior leaders
  • Strong leadership skills, excel at building relationships and problem solving
  • Ability to lead large highly complex projects of notable risk exposure
  • Strong writing skills and news judgment
  • Experience leading a team of professional-level contributors
  • Knowledge of the industry's competitive landscape and awareness of the market and regulatory factors that affect the industry
