Role summary: The (USA) Director, Corporate Strategy serves as a strategic liaison to the Corporate Secretary, elevating the quality and impact of Board interactions. This role enhances how Walmart communicates with the Board by shaping clear, insight-driven materials and ensuring discussions are grounded in enterprise priorities and forward-looking perspectives. The Director partners closely with senior leadership to synthesize complex topics into concise narratives, align on key messages, and support effective governance processes. Positioned at the center of executive engagement, this leader helps ensure Board communications are proactive, strategic, and aligned to the company’s most critical decisions and long-term direction. About the team: The Enterprise Strategy team at Walmart leads the company’s long-term strategic direction by integrating priorities, supporting executive initiatives, managing the portfolio, and advancing growth opportunities. Collaborating closely with senior leadership, the team transforms data-driven insights into actionable plans that address complex business challenges. Focused on innovation and competitive positioning, it drives high-impact projects and explores future opportunities to ensure sustained success. This team plays a vital role in influencing strategic decisions at the highest levels, fostering cross-functional collaboration and thought leadership to support Walmart’s evolving business landscape.

Requirements

  • Deep experience in corporate strategy, executive communications, or governance .
  • Proven ability to translate complex, ambiguous topics into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for senior executives and Boards.
  • Strong business judgment and strategic thinking.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a high bar for quality, accuracy, and clarity.
  • Advanced project management capabilities, with experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives, driving milestones, and delivering high-quality outputs under tight timelines.
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining rigor, attention to detail, and executional excellence.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related area and 7 years’ experience in consulting, corporate strategy, business development, or related area OR 9 years’ experience in consulting, corporate strategy, business development, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic liaison to the Corporate Secretary and Board Team.
  • Lead development of high-quality, insight-driven materials that clearly communicate enterprise priorities, performance, and forward-looking strategy.
  • Partner with senior leadership to synthesize complex topics into concise, compelling narratives that support informed Board discussions and decisions.
  • Ensure alignment of Board communications with Walmart’s strategic priorities, key initiatives, and governance processes.
  • Manage preparation for Board meetings, including briefing materials, pre-reads, and follow-ups on key themes and actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how the company engages with the Board, elevating clarity, rigor, and strategic focus.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather inputs, surface insights, and ensure consistency across enterprise messaging.
