Director Dental Services – Correctional Health (25K Retention Bonus)
About The Position
The Dental Director provides comprehensive dental care services to patients in the Harris County Jail, while also managing administrative responsibilities. This role is approximately 80% clinical and 20% administrative . Administrative duties include: Leading quality assurance programs Developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures Establishing dental standards of care and clinical protocols Monitoring performance benchmarks and metrics Clinically, the Dental Director oversees and provides dental care, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered treatment while mentoring and supervising dental staff.
Requirements
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) required
- Licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
- Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP) certification to be completed within one (1) year if not held at hire
- Three (3) years of direct patient care dental services experience
- Two (2) years of experience overseeing dentists and dental assistants
- Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact)
- Exceptional verbal (public speaking)
- Writing / correspondence and reports
- MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Analytical
- Medical terminology
- Statistical analysis

- Advanced training (GPR, AEGD) preferred
