Start your Voyage – Apply Now Position Summary: This position will be primarily responsible to lead and drive programs and projects and directly manage project management staff and provide management, oversight and planning in support of strategic portfolio (up to $25M). Responsible for change management leadership and adoption of multiple delivery methodologies are integrated into our process of continuous improvement and will also be part of this role. Will also partner with business and technology to drive strategic efforts and initiatives. Programs and projects are subject to change, contain significant complexity, and significant risk, substantial number of resources, and complex organizational change issues that this role would support. Responsible for performance management, strategic goal setting, promoting training journeys and growing skills and talent. This position will have resource management responsibilities for a team of managers and/or program/project managers.

Requirements

  • Hands-on and results driven leader with a proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively across organizations and cross functional teams
  • Innovative strategic thought leader with the ability to question status quo, influence change and provide forward thinking
  • Industry leading and expert knowledge and understanding of project management best practices, principles, project lifecycles, and various delivery methodologies.
  • Experience within financial services or management consulting environments supporting retirement, wealth management, employee benefits, investment management or institutional financial services organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience (5 – 10 years) to manage and build teams.
  • Sought out as a proven project management professional.
  • Strong ability to communicate the need for change, its purpose, and it’s expected impact to stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure understanding and buy-in
  • Expert knowledge of a project lifecycle and methodologies
  • Experience interacting with and influencing senior members of management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills required.
  • Highly collaborative and effective partner; ability to effect change in a matrix managed geographically dispersed environment.
  • Expert Project/Program/Portfolio Management Financial Acumen ability
  • Strong competency in coaching and mentoring teams
  • Continuous learner; quickly adapt to changing environment and personalities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Effectively, clearly and concisely communicate in all methods (verbal, written, presentation) to all levels of the organization
  • Possesses strong project financials acumen for programs/projects of significant investment size.
  • Experienced leading significant change management and transformation efforts across business and technology partners
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, or related field or equivalent work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading, developing and maintaining program/project strategies to support business objectives and drive growth, ensuring alignment of initiatives to strategic goals and objectives
  • Drive execution and achievement of milestones in highly matrixed organization without direct control of resource management responsibilities
  • Address business challenges by bridging the gap between strategy and execution and identifying scalable solutions designed to reduce the complexities.
  • Responsible for financial management of respective programs/projects.
  • Accountable for understanding financial trends, insights and recommendations.
  • Partners with Finance to support and provide insight to leadership on portfolio and/or program financials and forecast; understands what is driving the costs and what is needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Able to effectively understand, interpret and communicate insights related to budgets, cost benefit analysis and trends in actuals for respective programs/projects.
  • Effective Vendor Management including being able to manage effectively the sourcing process within context of the role, managing vendor deliverables, understanding dependencies both for individual vendors and between multiple vendors, managing risk mitigation and understanding where the vendor supports a critical path item
  • Act with strong personal and situational awareness; understands what motivates stakeholders; learns their concerns, takes them seriously and addresses them.
  • Act as a trusted advisor / leader with team, customers, and stakeholders at all levels of the organization (up to and including SLT/EC); solid executive presence.
  • Develop and deliver compelling fact-based stories and recommendations in written and presentation form while teaching and coaching others.
  • Drive complex situations to develop strategic, concise plans of action that help business areas achieve defined goals.
  • Conduct performance management reviews and nurtures the talent within the team including individuals and managers; providing opportunities for skill development, career advancement and succession planning; provides open and honest feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Foster an environment and culture that appropriately balances the “art” and “science” of project delivery across various methodologies while building deep bench strength and growth opportunities.
  • Remove barriers for team and organization no matter how difficult; identify and raise awareness on issues that need to be addressed, provide an opinion and recommendation on a path forward.
  • Directs the coordination and management of project manager resources and allocations based on skills match and evolving needs of the portfolio.
