Job Summary Provides strategic leadership and operational management to achieve the goals and objectives of the Summit Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF). Works in close collaboration with SPMF Board, Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) Executive Team, and SPMC management team to ensure Foundation strategies and activities are in alignment with District goals, objectives, and needs. Consistently maintains a positive work environment that promotes SPMC values. Job Duties and Responsibilities Plans, develops, and manages all SPMF activities, including campaigns, projects, events, and finances. Works with the SPMF Board and SPMC leadership to identify opportunities and priorities for the Foundation to support improvement and/or sustain healthcare in Grays Harbor County. Identifies opportunities and prepares business cases and project plans for Foundation investments in facilities, equipment, training, and research. Identifies grant opportunities; produces grant proposals and reports. Manages grants; maintains records and reports as required. Designs and implements plans to obtain sufficient funds to meet Foundation goals and support the needs of SPMC. Builds mutually respectful relationships with past and prospective donors. Engages donors in imagining and realizing significant improvements in the overall health of Grays Harbor County. Regularly reviews and optimizes donor relationship strategies. Cultivates major gifts. Provides for the recognition of donors. Ensures the reputation of SPMC and the Foundation in the community is sustained and enhanced. Develops the profile of the Foundation/SPMC by participating in discourse on healthcare at the local, regional and national levels. Supports the effective operation of and governance by the SPMF Board. Develops and proposes policies that ensure accountability, transparency and appropriate risk management. Organizes and facilitates regular board meetings, committee meetings and special meetings and retreats. Builds effective relationships with Foundation board members, staff, volunteers, and SPMC leadership and staff. Acts as a liaison between the organization and a range of external stakeholders. Represents SPMF/SPMC at official events and frequently speaks directly with donors, and members of the community. Participates as an active member of various committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned. Executes management tasks in an accurate and timely manner. Provides effective leadership and oversight of assigned staff to meet service and performance expectations; leads by example and provides support, guidance, coaching and performance management when needed. Monitors and manages staff satisfaction and engagement. Recruits and engages volunteers to support SPMF programs/events. Maintains equipment and physical space. Maintains professional skills and awareness of regulatory changes, compliance issues, innovations and developments, through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws. Stays abreast of trends and best practices. Maintains programs and records in good order, as required for regulatory compliance and efficient and effective operations. Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fund development, including experience developing fundraising campaigns, organizing large community events, building donor relationships and closing major gifts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of fundraising and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and carry out a comprehensive and multifaceted development plan.
  • Ability to identify, solicit, and cultivate donors and event sponsors and to persuasively and effectively communicate the need for Summit Pacific’s programs throughout the organization’s catchment areas.
  • Knowledge of the community relations role and responsibilities.
  • Ability to publicly articulate the position and agenda of both the district and foundation both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand both political issues and stakeholder issues and ensure that efforts are meeting the mission of the district.
  • Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with managers, volunteers, and community members.
  • Strong leadership presence and presentation, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology; including Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use a variety of computer systems and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to develop effective processes and protocols and to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in sensitive or stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional long hours and night/weekend commitments.
  • Ability to travel between locations for events or meetings.
