Job Summary Plans and directs day-to-day activities related to regulatory compliance, quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives related to these areas. Scope includes JCAHO and CAP compliance and inspection readiness, as well as the professional staff competency review, development, and monitoring of KPIs for the system. Coordination of PO quality incentive programs, identifying and directing performance improvement projects (with local leadership), follow-up, and resolution of safety reports. Functionally responsible for regulatory compliance of Pathology Service laboratories and high complexity testing laboratories outside of Pathology Service

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Sciences required or Bachelor's Degree Administration preferred
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist [MLS Certification] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Experience in Pathology Quality and Compliance 8-10+ years required
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections 3-5 years required
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of laboratory systems and technical knowledge related to quality management and complex laboratory regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage a wide variety of projects and prioritization skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify problems, capture the appropriate data, and develop sound interpretations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with all levels of staff on complex, confidential issues.
  • Leadership skills to be able to bring groups of individuals together around a common set of goals and to create and implement action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the Pathology quality management program, which informs laboratory operations.
  • Directs the development and implementation of quality, safety, and compliance training programs for all Pathology faculty, trainees, and employees.
  • Monitors department or laboratory performance for key operation procedures; identifies problems and works with areas to improve performance.
  • Identifies deficiencies and collaborates with relevant hospital or department personnel to develop and implement improvement and corrective action plans.
  • Directs laboratory accreditation/inspection preparation, including education and periodic performance review evaluations.
  • Manages all CLIA certificate applications and documentation, including Point of Care sites.
