About The Position

The Director-Laboratory is a leadership role responsible for overseeing policies, procedures, and operations of a moderate-complexity laboratory. This position ensures CLIA compliance, maintains certification standards, and promotes a safe and accurate laboratory environment. The role also requires supporting departmental goals and demonstrating strong leadership skills, including influence, innovation, adaptability, and problem-solving. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technology (MT), Chemical, Physical or Biological Science required.
  • Current licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) required.
  • Five (5) years of laboratory training and/or experience required.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting required.
  • Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, staffing, and budgeting
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA and all applicable regulations
  • Maintain SOPs, quality control, and proficiency testing programs
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate laboratory staff
  • Resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure laboratory safety and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee accurate and timely reporting of test results
  • Promote a culture of accountability and excellence
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
