About the position

The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading the strategic marketing efforts of the credit union to increase member engagement, drive product and service adoption, and strengthen the organization's brand. This role oversees all marketing functions, including digital marketing, advertising, communications, and market research, ensuring alignment with the credit union's mission, values, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies that support membership growth, loan volume, product usage, and overall member engagement.
  • Ensure consistent and effective branding across all channels and touchpoints. Oversee brand positioning, messaging, and identity to reflect the credit union's mission and values.
  • Lead digital initiatives, including website optimization, email marketing, SEO/SEM, paid advertising, and social media engagement.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of internal and external communications, including newsletters, promotional materials, member education campaigns, and PR initiatives.
  • Conduct market analysis, member segmentation, and performance tracking. Use data insights to guide marketing decisions and measure ROI.
  • Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals and external vendors. Foster collaboration across departments to align marketing efforts with organizational goals. Help develop and manage the department budget.
  • Ensure all marketing and communications comply with NCUA regulations, advertising laws, and brand guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, preferably with credit unions, fintech or banks.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, member lifecycle management, and brand strategy.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM systems).
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in financial marketing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with marketing tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Adobe Creative Suite, and CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with credit union core systems and member data platforms.
