About The Position

DIRECTV is building an AI-enabled Marketing Technology ecosystem to transform how marketing content is created, managed, and activated. We are seeking a Director, MarTech & AI to establish and lead the AI function within the MarTech organization. This leader will define the AI strategy for the content supply chain and broader MarTech stack, guiding the development, implementation, and scaling of AI-driven capabilities that improve content velocity, creative effectiveness, and operational efficiency. In this highly visible role, you will set the vision, own the roadmap, lead cross-functional delivery, and champion AI adoption across Marketing, Creative, and Technology teams. You will also oversee AI-related proofs of concept (POCs), ensuring the right use cases are selected, executed, evaluated, and matured into scalable solutions. Here’s what you’ll do:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field preferred.
  • MBA or Master's degree in relevant technical field strongly desired.
  • 5 – 7 years of progressive experience in marketing technology, digital marketing, or technology strategy roles.
  • 3 – 5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives.
  • Proven track record leading AI/ML implementation projects in marketing or enterprise environments.
  • Direct experience with content supply chain, creative operations, or digital asset management workflows.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling technology capabilities from concept to enterprise adoption.
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies and their applications in marketing (generative AI, computer vision, NLP, personalization engines).
  • Strong knowledge of MarTech ecosystem including: Digital Asset Management (DAM) platforms Content Management Systems (CMS) Customer Data Platforms (CDP) CRM systems Marketing Project Management/workflow tools Personalization and activation platforms
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms and tools (e.g., Azure AI, AWS AI/ML services, Google Cloud AI, OpenAI APIs).
  • Understanding of data architecture, APIs, system integration, and data governance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and POC/pilot evaluation frameworks.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute multi-year technology strategies and roadmaps.
  • Experience building business cases, securing investment, and managing budgets for technology initiatives.
  • Strong program/project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Track record of successful change management and technology adoption at scale.
  • Experience establishing governance frameworks, operating models, and performance measurement systems.
  • Deep understanding of marketing operations, creative production workflows, and content lifecycle management.
  • Experience translating business needs into technical requirements and solutions.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and assess business value and feasibility.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with ability to influence senior executives.
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to evangelize new technologies and drive organizational change.
  • Strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in media, entertainment, telecommunications, or advertising industries.
  • Prior experience with DIRECTV, streaming platforms, or subscription-based businesses.
  • Certifications in AI/ML, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or project management (PMP, Agile).
  • Published thought leadership or speaking experience on AI in marketing.
  • Experience with responsible AI practices, ethics frameworks, and model governance.
  • Background in data science, analytics, or technical product management.

Responsibilities

  • AI Strategy & Leadership Establish and lead DIRECTV’s AI capabilities within the MarTech organization.
  • Build the AI vision, roadmap, investment strategy, and operating model.
  • Ensure alignment of AI initiatives with business priorities across Marketing and Creative.
  • Define frameworks for evaluating use cases, governing AI solutions, and measuring performance.
  • AI Innovation & Use Case Ownership (Content Supply Chain Focus) Identify and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities across the content supply chain and marketing workflows.
  • Lead AI POCs and pilot initiatives with partners, including intake, evaluation, success criteria, and operationalization.
  • Convert successful POCs into scalable, integrated solutions within the MarTech ecosystem.
  • Drive continuous discovery of new AI-enabled efficiencies and enhancements.
  • Program & Project Leadership Lead cross-functional programs involving Creative Operations, Marketing Strategy, Data Science, and external agencies.
  • Own project governance, stakeholder engagement, timelines, risks, and communication.
  • Ensure AI initiatives integrate effectively with MarTech platforms (DAM, CMS, CDP, CRM, workflow/MPM, personalization, activation tools).
  • Build documentation, operational processes, and governance models for enterprise-scale adoption.
  • AI Evangelism & Change Leadership Serve as the primary evangelist for AI within Marketing and MarTech.
  • Educate stakeholders on AI capabilities, use cases, best practices, and responsible adoption.
  • Lead change-management efforts including training, communication, and showcasing impact.
  • Influence leaders across Marketing and Product to adopt AI-based workflows and decision-making.
  • MarTech Architecture & Integration Maintain deep knowledge of the MarTech stack and its integration points for AI.
  • Partner with platform owners on data readiness, workflow design, taxonomy/metadata, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise standards for data governance, privacy, and model evaluation.
  • Oversee scalability and sustainability of AI-enabled workflows across systems and teams.
