About the position

This role involves evaluating business development opportunities, leading commercial assessments, and providing strategic input for lifecycle management opportunities. You will collaborate with various teams to assess product opportunities and deliver presentations to senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate business development opportunities to establish and confirm strategic fit with Akebia's portfolio.
  • Lead commercial assessments for business development opportunities and participate in due diligence.
  • Lead commercial assessments of internal pipeline candidates in collaboration with Finance, Commercial, and R&D team members.
  • Use competitive intelligence and market research to develop target product profiles to guide product development.
  • Complete commercial and financial assessments for existing products and candidates in development.
  • Integrate components of new product opportunities to assess overall risks and opportunities.
  • Provide commercial evaluation and strategic input for lifecycle management opportunities.
  • Partner with FP&A team to support Akebia's strategic Long-Range Plan.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in strategic marketing, new product planning, or business development.
  • Experience in the biotech or pharma industry.
  • Experience creating and presenting to an executive team on commercial analysis and business development opportunities.
  • Proven experience analyzing industry trends for strategic recommendations.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or graduate degree in life sciences preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills for writing and presenting clear, succinct, and convincing presentations.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate new product opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting industry trends.
  • Ability to motivate others and manage multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment.
