Director of Accounting and Finance
About The Position
Are you a versatile finance leader who enjoys supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses while bringing deep expertise in hospitality operations? We are seeking a strategic, tech-savvy Director of Accounting and Finance to lead financial operations with a primary focus on our hotel division, while contributing to the broader success of Hulsing Enterprises’ portfolio. This includes branded hotels, health/fitness clubs and country clubs, durable medical supply companies, and Earth Fare natural grocery stores. This position can be based in the Kansas City, Orlando (Florida), or Asheville (NC) areas, with a hybrid remote arrangement available in any of these locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA strongly preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in hospitality/hotel operations at the Director or Controller level
- Hands-on experience with ProfitSword (or equivalent hotel-specific BI/financial systems) — this is essential
- High proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, PMS integrations, and modern technology platforms (advanced Excel and BI tools highly valued)
- Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across different business units
- Strong understanding of hospitality financial metrics and revenue management, plus openness to supporting retail, medical, and fitness operations
- Proactive, solutions-oriented professional with excellent communication skills and a passion for diverse industries
Responsibilities
- Lead accounting, financial reporting, and controllership functions primarily for our hotel portfolio, with support across the full enterprise
- Manage month-end close, general ledger, financial statements, and insightful variance analysis
- Partner with operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting, revenue optimization, and cost control
- Maximize the use of ProfitSword (our hotel BI platform) for real-time dashboards, automated reporting, sales pacing, and data-driven decision making
- Oversee cash management, capital projects, compliance, audits, and banking relationships
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while identifying process improvements and technology enhancements
- Deliver strategic financial insights to support performance and growth across hotels, clubs, medical supply, and grocery operations
