About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Development will bolster and manage our fund development infrastructure by creating and expanding a consistent, diversified, and flexible funding base. The Director of Development will oversee all aspects of fundraising operations, including engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, foundation, and corporate donors. Working closely with our President & CEO, the Director of Development will oversee and track progress towards fundraising goals, lead donor solicitation and communications efforts, and execute our Fund Development Plan. The Director of Development must be a strong communicator, organized, detail-oriented, independent, and able to manage competing priorities. They should be an enthusiastic collaborator and passionate about the mission and vision of Wise & Healthy Aging (WISE).

Requirements

  • Four-year degree, with a master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5-10 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or administration with demonstrated leadership roles.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload while responding promptly to donors.
  • Work experience with ethnically and economically diverse populations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate expectations to team members.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work with competing and conflicting deadlines.
  • Experience with donor management software, preferably GiveSmart.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory criminal background check required.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Normal conditions for an office environment.

  • Professional, lived, or volunteer experience with older adults and/or caregiving preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Board of Directors and the President & CEO to implement, analyze, and evaluate donor strategies related to reaching fundraising goals.
  • Executes a comprehensive fundraising plan that increases unrestricted revenue, improves donor retention, and positions WISE for financial resilience.
  • Manages all individual, foundation and corporate donors and building meaningful connections to secure ongoing support.
  • Collaborates effectively with internal departments to ensure coordinated planning and execution of fundraising initiatives.
  • Works closely with our Director of Communications in the development and design of creative, impactful donor communications.
  • Ensures effective systems, practices, and processes are in place for donor tracking, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Drafts and submits grant applications and reports to foundation and corporate donors.
  • Partners with our finance team to prepare budgets and expense reports.
  • Conducts prospect research and evaluation of potential individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
  • Solicits donations from individual and corporate donors.
  • Develops and executes donor engagement events.
  • Leads the coordination of the Board of Director’s Fund Development Committee meetings and activities.
  • Attends Fund Development Committee meetings to present on progress towards fundraising goals.
  • Is a public representative for WISE at events related to aging and caregiving.
  • Other duties as directed.
